Main South Road rated most risky

Main South Road between Aldinga and Sellicks Beach has again been rated the most dangerous metropolitan road in the state by RAA members.

The road is described by Aldinga residents on a Facebook forum as a goat track with one resident saying she attempted to count the number of potholes along the 10km stretch but, “lost count after 70”.

Victor Harbor Road is also listed as one of the state’s most risky, at number six on the list.

The state government has committed $305M to duplicate 10km of Main South Road from Griffiths Drive in Seaford to Aldinga. The project is expected to be completed in 2022.

Stage 2, which would see the duplication of the road from Aldinga to Sellicks Beach is still unfunded.

Two Fleurieu sites have been listed in the top 10 risky intersections. The Main South Road, Tatachilla Road and Maslin Beach Road intersection at Tatachilla is considered the second worst in South Australia.

The intersection of Victor Harbor Road, Seaview Road and Budgens Road in McLaren Vale is rated as the fifth worst.
