Main South Road speeders

One of the main roads leading into the Fleurieu is also one of the most lucrative spots for speed camera revenue, according to carexpert.com.au.


The mobile site used by SAPOL at Main South Road at Old Noarlunga is the third busiest camera site in South Australia, catching 2668 speeders last year.


Only a mobile site on the Northern Connector and a fixed camera at the intersection of Main North and Womma Roads in Elizabeth North recorded more offences.


The top five fixed locations in SA were:


1.     Intersection of Main North Road and Womma Road, Elizabeth North, with 3381 infringements

2.    South Eastern Freeway, Leawood Gardens (one of three locations), with 2208 infringements

3.    Prospect Road, Prospect, with 2030 infringements

4.    Intersection of Port Wakefield Drive and Globe Derby Drive, Globe Derby Park, with 1991 infringements

5.    Goodwood Road, Goodwood, with 1938 infringements

 

The other two South Eastern Freeway, Leawood Gardens locations recorded 1887 and 652 offences, respectively.

 

The top five mobile locations:


1.    North Connector, with 3986 infringements

2.    Main South Road, Old Noarlunga, with 2668 infringements

3.    Jeffcott Street, North Adelaide, with 1935 infringements

4.    Military Road, West Beach, with 1894 infringements

5.    Chief Street, Brompton, with 1747 infringements


Speeding offences can range from $180 for exceeding the speed-limit by less than 10 km/h to up to $1690 for doing 45km/h or more over the limit (an automatic loss of licence for six months would also apply and SAPOL can impound the offender’s vehicle).
