A man has been arrested following an alleged home invasion and assault at Christie Downs on Friday night.

Around 8pm on 30 May, police were called to McKinna Road after a resident found an intruder in his bedroom. A physical struggle broke out before the suspect fled over a back fence.

The homeowner sustained only minor injuries and was able to give officers a detailed description of the man. Southern District patrols quickly flooded the area and located the suspect nearby, arresting him shortly after.

Crime Scene investigators examined the home and collected several items the suspect allegedly left behind.

A 37-year-old Christie Downs man has been charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, aggravated assault, and theft. He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Monday, 2 June.
