Man arrested after crashes at Moana

Police are seeking witnesses to an incident at Moana on Saturday night where a car was rammed.

Just before 9pm on Saturday 21 September, police were called to the intersection of Commercial Road, Griffiths Drive and Robertson Road after reports a gold Nissan Navara utility crashed into a white Mazda CX5.

A short time later, a second collision was reported at the intersection of Robertson Road and Esplanade involving the same two vehicles.

Both vehicles left the area prior to police arrival however the Mazda CX5 was found abandoned on the Esplanade a short time later and the gold Nissan utility was last seen travelling north on the Esplanade.

Police believe that the driver of the Nissan intentionally crashed into the Mazda.

Following investigations, the Nissan driver, a 19-year-old man from Hackham West, was arrested and charged with driving in a manner dangerous. He was bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 15 November.

The gold Nissan has since been recovered by police and has been impounded.

The incident does not appear to be random at this time.

A number of people were in the area at the time of both collisions and likely had witnessed the incidents but had left prior to arrival of police.  Police are urging all possible witnesses to come forward.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collisions or has dashcam footage from anyone who was in the vicinity of these locations, around the time of the incidents to contact Crime Stoppers.
