Man arrested in stolen car

A man has been arrested after running from a stolen car at Christie Downs last night.

About 8.45pm on Tuesday 2 April police spotted a stolen white Hyundai sedan on Finbar Crescent, Christie Downs. The patrol attempted to stop the vehicle however the driver refused to pull over and it was pursued briefly through the back streets before being terminated. The Hyundai was last seen heading south on Morton Road.

The Hyundai had been reported stolen from Glenelg just after 8pm.

PolAir then assisted in tracking the stolen car as it continued driving south along Victor Harbor Road. The car’s tyres were spiked at the junction of Communication Road but it continued driving, heading back north via Main South Road.

The car eventually stopped at Barnabas Crescent, Christie Downs where the driver ran off. He was quickly arrested by patrols without incident.

A 32-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, driving dangerous to escape police pursuit, theft and driving unlicenced. He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today.
