Police are investigating the death of a man at McLaren Flat last night.

Just before 6pm Wednesday 17 December police and emergency services were called to Oakley Road following reports that a man was shot during an altercation with two men on the street.

A 62-year-old McLaren Flat man was found deceased at the scene.

A 40-year-old man and 69-year-old man, both from McLaren Flat, were arrested at the scene. Both men have been charged with several offences including murder and possessing an unregistered firearm.

They did not apply for bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today, Thursday 18 December.

A firearm suspected of being used in the assault has been recovered.

Southern District detectives are continuing to investigate this incident, however, reassure the community that both men were known to the victim and there is no risk to the public.

Police will remain at the property throughout Thursday morning.
