Great Southern Runs will host the McLaren Vale Marathon at Richard Hamilton Wines this weekend, Saturday and Sunday 29 and 30 April.

The event will include runs – or walks - for everyone, with a supporting half marathon, 10K, 5K and a kids' mile. 

This destination race is run on beautiful road courses through the vines with the backdrop of the Southern Mount Lofty Ranges. 

There will be plenty for the whole family to do at Richard Hamilton Wines, including outdoor movies, kids' activities, markets and food trucks.

The following road closures will be in place to facilitate the race:

  Saturday 29 April 

·   Malpas Road between Pethick Road and a point approximately 600 metres west of California Road, from 10am to 3.15pm.

·   Pethick Road between Malpas Road and Branson Road, from 10am to 3.30pm.

·   Pethick Road between Malpas Road the 5k turnaround point, from 10am to 4.45pm.

·   Branson Road between Pethick Road and Gilbert Road, from 10am to 5pm.

·   Gilbert Road between Branson Road and Johnson Road, from 10am to 6pm.

Sunday 30 April 

The following roads will be closed from 5am to 3pm:

·   Main Road between Malpas Road and Rifle Range Road.

·   Rifle Range Road between Main Road and Shiraz Trail Bike Path.

·   Binney Road between Shiraz Trail Bike Path and Strout Road.

·   Strout Road between Binney Road and McMurtrie Road.

·   McMurtrie Road between Strout Road and Oakley Road.

·   Oakley Road between McMurtrie Road and Sand Road.

·   Sand Road between Oakley Road and Hunt Road.

·   Hunt Road between Sand Road and Kangarilla Road.

·   Kangarilla Road Crossing at McLaren Flat.

·   Kangarilla Road Crossing at McLaren Vale.

·   McMurtrie Road Crossing.
