Marion Council backflips on their decision to evict the Cove Football Club from its premises

The Marion Council has backflipped on their decision to evict the Cove Football Club from its Hallett Cove home. Below is a statement from their President, Tony Kernahan.

To Our Cove Cobra Families

I am pleased to announce that after many weeks and countless hours of work, phone calls and an odd meeting here and there, the motion to remove the Cove Football Club from the Hallett Cove Sports and Community club has been rescinded and we will go into negotiations on a new lease for the 2020 season.

The committee and I would like to thank everybody who assisted in achieving this out come. You all have been amazing and united in the clear message that was needed to be sent of behalf of the Hallett Cove Community and the Cove Football Club.

The City of Marion Council have worked with the Cove Football Club and will continue to work with us to ensure we have a long standing relationship that will benefit council members, Cove Football Club, other user groups and the wider Hallett Cove Community creating a safe, welcoming community sports centre for all to enjoy.

We would also like to thank representatives from the SANFL, Lisa Faraci & Matt Duldig for unbelievable support throughout this process. Both have felt part of the club since this started and they are there to help us when needed.

To Mr Craig Warman (President SFL) who has shown complete support to the committee and the members of the Cove Football Club, we thank you and all the SFL presidents who shared their support to our club, on behalf of the club thank you.

There have been a countless number of people who have assisted behind the scenes with all types of support that need to be thanked, petitions, social media support and the list goes on. On behalf of the Cove Football Club thank you so much for all of your support.

The club will now start working on our rebuilding program with the football department and look forward to seeing if we can create a new and exciting environment for all our members and their guests to enjoy the community club.

We will be holding our AGM on Sunday 27th October and we would like all our members to attend and focus on the future for the club, things we can change and introduce fresh ideas and gain more volunteers to ensure we enjoy our time at the club. We need people to unite and focus on building a great club that we all want.
