The Victor Harbor Beachside Market will trial holding the market in Ocean Street on Sunday, 30 August.
City of Victor Harbor CEO Victoria McKirdy has approved the closure of Ocean Street, north and south, for the trial.
The purpose of the trial market is to test the potential for the Beachside Market to be held regularly in Ocean Street over the winter months, to take shelter from the winds and cold weather experienced in their current location on the Esplanade.
The council believes the move has significant potential to drive activity and vibrancy in Ocean Street during the winter months.
Following the trial market, the council will contact Ocean Street traders to seek feedback.
To facilitate the trial Ocean Street will be closed on Sunday 30 August from 6am to 5pm. Coral Street will remain open to traffic.
Depending on how many stall holders get involved, the market will take place on both the northern and southern ends of Ocean Street, starting with the southern end first.
Traffic management will be implemented by a qualified traffic management company, with additional support of trained community marshals during the set-up of the market.
More information on the trial is available on the City of Victor Harbor website.
