McLaren Eagles set up a grand final rematch in Great Southern Women's Football

McLaren Eagles have won their way through to the FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s Great Southern Football League grand final after defeating Goolwa/Port Elliot by 31 points in the preliminary final at Goolwa yesterday. The Eagles’ win sets up a rematch with reigning premier Willunga at Strathalbyn on Sunday. Yesterday’s game was tight in the first half with McLaren leading by seven points at halftime. They extended their lead to 11 points at the last change, before kicking three goals to none in the final term to win 5.3 (33) to 0.2 (2). McLaren’s Bianca Coom (2) was the only multiple goalkicker for the game. Best players for the Eagles were Layla Rogers, Sophia Flanagan-Sjoberg, Caitlin Ross, Ruby Flanagan-Sjoberg, Sally Fuller and Coom. The Magpies were best served by Kalani Bates, Lucy Earl, Renee Moon, Alana Browne, Megan Hoad and Rachel Searle.


The under 17 girls grand final will also see Willunga take on McLaren after the Eagles defeated Strathalbyn by 16 points in the preliminary final.
