McLaren Vale home visited by COVID positive removalist

**Update - late on Monday afternoon SA Health confirmed that another of the removalists had also tested positive to COVID-19 **

A removalist delivering furniture to McLaren Vale from New South Wales on Thursday and Friday of last week (8 and 9 July) has tested positive for COVID-19.

He and two colleagues were moving furniture for a family who recently relocated to the area and who were already in home quarantine.

The family came into contact with the 30 year old removalist and his colleagues for about five hours.

All members of the family have returned two negative tests so far, including one taken this morning.

The man's work colleagues have also so far returned negative results.

Premier Marshall said at this stage there were no known places in South Australia outside of the family's home that the three removalists may have visited while in the state.

Dr Emily Kirkpatrick, Deputy Chief Medical Officer with SA Health, said that if any possible exposure sites came to light they would be communicated to the public as soon as possible.

She said the infected man had not recorded any QR check-ins whilst in the state

“All the information we have so far is that these individuals were in South Australia for a very short period of time; no overnight stays and then returned back to New South Wales,” she said.

SA Health are asking anyone with even the mildest of COVID-19 symptoms to get tested but Dr Kirkpatrick said they are not asking the community of McLaren Vale to get tested without symptoms at this stage.

Testing is available at 108 Beach Road in Christies Beach, at South Coast Hospital in Victor Harbor and at the drive through testing facility on Prideham Boulevard in Aldinga Beach.

Tighter restrictions have now been placed on people returning to South Australia from the greater Sydney area in New South Wales.

Residents will need to prove that they can quarantine alone at home before being allowed to return.

The removalists also moved through Victoria on their way to South Australia, visiting several areas to deliver furniture.
