Historical novelist Rachel Hope will speak about her latest book at the Victor Harbor library next Wednesday 13 April.

Shadows of the Muse is her third historical novel, set in England and spanning the first decades of the 19th century. 

The characters are based on true historic figures and consist of a group of girls who attend the same school and experience many challenges as they attempt to negotiate a society unwilling to accept them at their true worth. 

Several characters come into their lives who support their endeavours; yet there is always a price to pay and the result is often nothing less than heart-breaking.

Rachel has taught English and Classical Studies at secondary level and has a master’s degree in education. 

A highlight of her career was taking part in a research project in Pompeii, Italy with the American Institute of Archaeology. 

Apart from writing novels, her interests include art, travel and reading.

Books will be available for purchase and signing at event $15 cash only, or $25 for any two Rachel Hope books.
