Two men have been arrested following a break in and assault in Christie Downs this morning.

At 1am Friday 16 June police were called to a unit on Guy Street after reports that two men were smashing their way into a unit.

Southern District patrols quickly responded and as they turned onto the street they found two men walking away with a baseball bat.

Upon further investigation police located the victim, a 41-year-old Christie Downs man, inside a unit with serious but non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre for treatment.

The suspects, a 27-year-old  man and an 18-year-old man, both from Christie Downs, have been charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass and aggravated assault. Although the investigation is in its early stages police believe this was not a random attack.

*A decision has not yet been made regarding bail.
