Boosting community mental health and responsible service of alcohol are the focus of two free training courses at the Myponga Memorial Community Centre this month.
Mental Health First Aid training enables people to provide mental health first aid support to friends, family and colleagues.
It will teach practical first aid skills such as how to recognise common mental health problems, provide help and respond in a crisis situation.
It will be offered over four 3-hour sessions, from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, starting on Monday 26 February.
The follow-up sessions will also be held on Monday evenings, 5.30pm to 8.30pm, on 4 March, 18 March and 25 March. Bookings are essential via Trybooking.
The Responsible Service of Alcohol training is aimed at local community volunteers, to enable them to serve alcohol at a licenced premises.
It will be offered on Wednesday 28 February from 5.30pm to 8.30pm. Bookings are essential via Trybooking.
Southern Fleurieu Local Drug Action Team is providing the free training, funded by the Alcohol & Drug Foundation and supported by the District Council of Yankalilla.
