Three years after a catastrophic storm flooded parts of Middleton, Alexandrina Council has scheduled remediation works for a section of Middleton Creek.

Contractors will start construction of a gabion rock retaining wall near the Mill Terrace footbridge in late November.

The project has been designed to prevent further erosion of the escarpment along the creek bank, identified as a risk following the major storm event.

Middleton caravan park and the medical practice went under water in the November 12 downpour, with many other businesses and households affected when more than 60mm of rain was dumped on the south coast in two hours.

The gabion rock wall will be built 3m high and approximately 13m long; the work is expected to be finished in late January 2026, weather permitting.

Some traffic and pedestrian restrictions will apply during some parts of the wall construction, with traffic management in place.

Visit the Alexandrina Council website for details of current and completed projects.
