Mixed results for Stingrays Women

Southern Districts' Women’s teams had a mixed day to begin their 2019/20 SACA Premier Cricket T20 campaigns on Sunday.

The first grade made the long trek to Salisbury Oval to take on Northern Districts. After winning the toss and batting first, the Stingrays posted 6/94 from their 20 overs with Emily Johns top scoring with 23 from 34 balls. Northern Districts were untroubled in the run chase, winning by nine wickets with 29 balls remaining. Hannah Sampson was the sole wicket taker for the visitors.

The second grade hosted Kensington at Bice Oval and the season got off to a fantastic start for the hosts with Keely Stone (2/7) getting a wicket with the very first ball of the match. Things continued to go well for the Stingrays as they restricted Kensington to a meagre 8/31 from their 20 overs. The wickets were shared around with Alecia Holt the main destroyer with the incredible figures of 3/1 from her four overs! The target was reached with a minimum of fuss, with the runs knocked off in the fifth over for the loss of just one wicket. Narelle Maiolo top scored with 15 not out.

Next week the first grade host Kensington at Bice Oval while the second grade travel to the bay to take on Glenelg.
