The wet winter and spring and rising river levels bring a greater risk of mosquito-borne viruses.
Access to free vaccines against Japanese Encephalitis Virus (JEV) has been extended, with more vaccination sessions offered from tomorrow, Thursday 1 December, for eligible people.
If you live or work in Goolwa, Hindmarsh Island, Milang, Clayton Bay and other eligible suburbs include Finniss and Lake Plains, you may be eligible to receive the free JEV vaccine.
JEV is spread to humans through mosquito bites. Many people don't experience any symptoms or illness from this serious disease.
Vaccination bookings and information on eligibility can be found on the SA Health website.
The scheduled dates and locations for the vaccine are:
Goolwa Council Office, 11 Cadell Street.
Milang Institute, 23 Coxe Street
More information on immunisation is on the Alexandrina Council website.
