The City of Victor Harbor will commission a public art work as part of stage four of its Mainstreet Precinct Upgrade.
The council is looking to contract a South Australian based artist or artist team to design and create a major sculptural artwork.
It will be located on the prominent Albert Place and Ocean Street intersection as a sculptural art piece that provides a southern gateway identity to the Mainstreet Precinct.
The artwork, with a potential budget of $100,000, will contribute to the Mainstreet’s identity and must reference Victor Harbor and its culture, sense of place and history.
The council hopes to receive submissions from artists who have experience in delivering public art projects.
Following the Expression of Interest evaluation process, the council will engage up to three artists to each prepare concept and design proposals.
The selected artist or team is expected to start work on the sculpture in November.
The artist brief can be found on the council website. Expressions of Interest close at 5pm on Tuesday 31 August.
