Morphett Vale on fire in the Southern Football League

Morphett Vale claimed another major scalp yesterday to move up to third spot on the ladder following their comprehensive 51-point win at Reynella during round 13 action of the Southern Football League (SFL). A week after defeating reigning premier Flagstaff Hill, the Emus were rampant in the second half against top side Reynella. The first half was tight with Morphett Vale taking a slender two-point lead to halftime. The second half was all Morphett Vale as they kicked eight goals to zero to win 14.7 (91) to 5.10 (40). Daniel Noble kicked four goals for the Emus and Dylan Williams and Khori Mills-Richardson kicked three goals each. Best players for Morphett Vale were Mills-Richardson, Jack Dal Santo, Liam Corrie, Aiden Baker and Anthony Biemans. For Reynella, Bailey Marshman, Sam Whitbread and James Smith were among their best players. 


Cove Cobras won their sixth game of the season and are now just percentage outside the top-five after defeating Happy Valley by 19 points at Hallett Cove on Saturday. The final scores were Cove 10.17 (77) to Happy Valley 8.10 (58). Ryan Need kicked four goals for the Cobras, while Ben Geytenbeek slotted three goals for the Vikings. The Cobras had plenty of good players including Alex Shaw, Damian Roach, Michael Galley, Lincoln Holder and Jayj Butler-Chaseling. Happy Valley were served best by Kieren Bartlett, Tate Coleman, Dwayne Ruddock, Nick Wilde and Lachlan Hamilton.


Noarlunga consolidated their spot in the top-three with a convincing 90-point win at Port Noarlunga. The Shoes led by 39 points at quarter time, 59 points at halftime and 92 points at the last change before winning 18.15 (123) to 4.9 (33). Vic Robertson was a star up forward for Noarlunga with six goals, while Tom Hynes kicked two goals for ‘Porties’. Zac Williams was named as best player for the Shoes and he was well supported by Vic Robertson, Reece Martell, Tom Mott, Patrick Marshall and Jaidan Kappler. Matthew Coulthard, Josh Johns and Jordan Zeitz were among the best players for the Cockle Divers.


Christies Beach won their fourth game of the season with a 26-point win at Aldinga on Saturday. The first half was tight with Aldinga leading by seven points at the long break. The second half was all Christies Beach as they kicked seven goals to two to win 11.13 (79) to 7.11 (53). Blake Carter was the leading goalkicker on the field with five goals for the Saints, while Joel Richards kicked two goals for the Sharks. The Saints’ Jacob Crate continued his good season to be best-on-ground and he was well supported by Ben Powell, Aidan Coakley, Lee Hoey and Josh de Roode. Best for Aldinga were Angus Stangewitz, Richards, Scott O’Dea, Levi Stewart-England and Bailey Pilmore.
