A mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinic visited Aldinga on Friday last week to try and boost the vaccination rate in the area.
Only 38 per cent of Aldinga’s population aged over 18 has received their first dose of a COVID vaccine, compare with the state average of 42.6 per cent .
Other areas of the Fleurieu have vaccination rates well above the state average.
Sixty-six per cent of eligible adults in Goolwa have received their first dose. Sixty-two per cent of adults in Victor Harbor are also at least partially vaccinated, along with 57 per cent in McLaren Vale and 46 per cent in Strathalbyn.
Pfizer vaccination slots at the Victor Harbor regional clinic are currently booked out until November 8.
For those who are able to travel, appointments for the Pfizer vaccine are available at the Noarlunga Centre Clinic at Colonnades Shopping Centre from early October.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced last week that children aged between 12 and 15 years would also be eligible to make appointments to receive the vaccine from September 13.
Chief Medical Officer Nicola Spurrier is urging people to get vaccinated and continue to use QR check-in codes after two truck drivers from New South Wales tested positive to COVID-19 in Western Australia after travelling across South Australia.
On their first trip on August 21, they travelled to Nundroo in the state’s west before swapping trucks with a crew who had travelled from Western Australia, and travelling back to NSW.
On their second trip on August 25 and 26 they passed through South Australia and travelled on to Perth. A swab taken from one of the drivers on August 24 showed a strong COVID-19 positive result and they were placed into quarantine in Western Australia.
