The owners of Compass Tanks say they are disappointed by the narrow-minded and spiteful message placed under the rainbow tank that greets people as they drive into Mount Compass on Victor Harbor Road.

Bindon and Kirsty Burns who operate Compass Tanks are hoping that someone saw the sign being placed or has dashcam footage that could help them identify the culprit.

They first noticed the hand-painted sign yesterday afternoon.

It had been made using insulation foil and duct-taped to the stand.

While there was no permanent damage done to the tank or its stand, Bindon and Kirsty would like to find out who was behind the sign and have reported the incident to South Australian Police.

They say they are proud of their rainbow tank which has been a great advertisement for their business and makes people smile as they drive past.

On their Facebook post they said, “Our Rainbow Tank is not affiliated with any political or social views. It is simply the symbolism between rain, rainbows, rainwater and tanks.”

“And if it brightens the day of people when they drive past it, then all the better.”

Anyone with any information can contact Compass Tanks on 8556 8544 or email [email protected]

In 2017 the rainbow tank was removed from its roadside location after a single single complaint to council.

After a petition with more than 1200 signatures was submitted to council the tank was put back in place.
