Mudlarks on the board in the GSFL Women's competition

Myponga-Sellicks came from 13 points down at halftime to win their first game of the season by seven points against Victor Harbor during round 5 action in the Great Southern Football League ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition at Strathalbyn on Friday night. The Mudlarks kicked four goals to one in the second half to win 6.3 (39) to 5.2 (32). Brianah Kennewell kicked two goals for Myponga-Sellicks, as did Demi Morse for Victor Harbor. Best players for the Mudlarks included Lily-Rose Garner, Nari Wright, Imogen Harney, Sarah Stanbury, Courtney Gum and Kennewell. Victor Harbor’s best players were Jaimee Millard, Olivia Nobbs, Skye Kartinyeri-sumner, Lucy Rubie, Layla Woods and Morse. 


McLaren Districts consolidated their spot in the top-two following a 30-point win against Yankalilla/Encounter Bay at Yankalilla yesewin was set up in the first quarter as the Eagles took a 20-point lead to the first break. The rest of the game was quite even as McLaren Districts won 5.7 (37) to 1.1 (7). Cadence Bryowsky kicked two goals for the Eagles, while Dani Brown kicked the only goal for the Stingrays. Josephine Hoare was named best for McLaren Districts and she was well supported by Esther Rayner, Mia Hamilton, Makenzie Bryowsky, Carly Vanderkwast and Kiera Harvey. Yankalilla/Encounter Bay’s best were Aardhana Renata-Skeen, Matisse Hunter, Czenya Cavouras, Angelia Roesler, Rhiannon Gaythwaite-Cotton and Tanya Littlely.


Willunga remained undefeated after a convincing 75-point victory over Goolwa/Port Elliot at Willunga yesterday. The Demons led by 40 points at halftime, before kicking another eight goals to three in the second half to win 14.10 (94) to 3.1 (19). Jessica Kirk kicked six majors in a best-on-ground display for Willunga, while vice-captain Tamara Page was close behind her with five goals of her own. Other good players for Willunga included Frankie Stone, Jodie Hunt, Caitlin Radbone and Cleo Guilfoyle. Dakota Simpson kicked two goals for the Magpies, while their best players were Indi Miller, Lily Jenke, Madison Bayley, Simpson and Lucy Earl.
