Mudlarks salute for their first win of the season in Great Southern Women's Football

Myponga-Sellicks won their first game of 2024 after defeating Victor Harbor by 46 points during round 10 action in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition on Sunday. The Mudlarks led throughout to win 6.13 (49) to 0.3 (3). Grace Deacon kicked four goals for the Mudlarks in a best-on-ground performance. Other good players for Myponga-Sellicks included Imogen Harney, Felicity Whiley, Amy Veron, Charlie Shaw-Mcmillan and Tasiah Wright. Best players for ‘Victor’ were Lucy Rubie, Annabelle Yelland, Chloe Byrne, Georgia Perry, Deb Beaton and Stacie Findlow.


Willunga has all but assured themselves the double chance after a 30-point win against Goolwa/Port Elliot last Friday night to stay top of the ladder with four games to go in the minor round. The Demons led by 13 points at halftime, before kicking three goals to one in the second half to win 7.8 (50) to 3.2 (20). Jessica Kirk kicked four goals for Willunga, while Jessica Bailey kicked two goals for the Magpies. Best players for Willunga included Courtney Gutschmidt, Kirk, Caitlin Radbone, Ada Anninos, Cleo Guilfoyle and Bella Rigby. Goolwa/Port Elliot were best served by Indigo Miller, Kalani Bates, Ellie Fry, Rosie Shaw, Bailey and Lucy Earl.


McLaren Districts consolidated their spot in the top-two with a comfortable 53-point win against Yankalilla/Encounter Bay. The Eagles dominated the first half to lead by 40 points, before going on to win 8.7 (55) to 0.2 (2). Best players for McLaren Districts were Layla Rogers, Caitlin Ross (3 goals), Esther Rayner, Josephine Hoare, Ally Bailey and Kiera Harvey, while the Stingrays were best served by Chloe Howlett, Matisse Hunter, Lauren Haywood, Mahli Littlely, Bella Walden, and Tyler Rigney-Garrett.
