Two Fleurieu schools are among 27 across the state that must change their names in preparation for the move of Year 7 into high school.
Victor Harbor R-7 School and Aldinga Beach B-7 school will become Victor Harbor Primary School and Aldinga Beach Primary School.
The change is required because as of 2022, Year 6 will be the final year of primary school for students in South Australia.
Minister for Education John Gardner says it’s another big milestone in preparation for Year 7 transitioning into high school next year.
“We are on track for all of our schools to be ready to welcome Year 7s and Year 8s from term one, day one next year.”
He says the state government is upgrading and building new learning areas to make sure there is plenty of space and that the transition is smooth and successful.
“There’s been a huge amount of interest from primary school teachers wanting to make the jump and become a high school teacher and I wish them all the best of luck as the recruitment process continues.
The 27 newly renamed primary schools will now work on updating their logos and signage ready for 2022.
Each school has been provided funding to assist with the costs associated with changing their names.
