Navigating aged care and living with dementia

The federal government has proposed major changes to aged care, with funding reforms and more emphasis on in-home care.

Alexandrina Council libraries has teamed up with the Department of Health and Aged Care and the Australian Library and Information Association to provide the latest information on aged care reforms to the community.

It has established an aged care information hub at Goolwa library, which will be open until 2 November.

Library staff will help people to learn about the latest aged care reforms; access information and join the conversation; and share thoughts on what matters most in aged care.

Find out more information on the Department of Health and Aged Care Engagement Hub.

Meanwhile, Dementia Action Week runs from 16 to 22 September and Alexandrina Council will host two free information sessions for residents.

They will be at Goolwa on Wednesday 18 September from 1.30pm to 3pm and at Strathalbyn on Wednesday 25 September from 10am to 11.30am.

The sessions will cover early signs of dementia, treatment, support, and how to reduce the risk.

For further information about these information sessions, visit the Alexandrina website.
