There is still time to apply for Alexandrina council’s new grants that are available for businesses and groups to support projects and activities that benefit the community.

The purpose of the Community Grants Program is to encourage local groups to take a more active and visible role in the community and create opportunities for community participation.

In 2020-21 the council has introduced two new grants that recognise the significant impact COVID-19 continues to have.

An Economic Development Recovery Grant has been set up to assist businesses to survive and recover from the negative impact caused by COVID-19 and associated restrictions.  

This grant aims to support and empower the local business community by helping to rebuild the local economic landscape.

Grants of between $2,000 and $5,000 will be made for new activities that will generate growth.  

Funding will be offered in two rounds. Round 1 applications will be accepted until 10 August and will focus on economic development activities. 

Round 2 will open from mid-January to mid-February 2021 and will offer funding to community groups for events in addition to funding economic development activities.

The second new category is the COVID-19 Community Reactivation Grant, 

to support community groups that make a positive contribution to the wellbeing of the region.

These grants of up to $1000 aim to counteract the negative impacts of the pandemic, including loss of income and increased social isolation.

The grant can support groups to stay afloat and adapt while restrictions are still in place or take steps towards being operational again once restrictions have eased and group activities can resume.  

Applications are now open and will be accepted and assessed on an ongoing basis until funds are exhausted.
