New element for Fleurieu Biennale Art Prize

There will be a new exhibition and prize as part of the Fleurieu Biennale Art Prize in 2026.

This year a Curator’s Choice show will be held in the Stump Hill Gallery at the Visitor Information Centre in McLaren Vale.

It will be in the style of a ‘Salon des Refuses’,  or alternative to the officially judged awards, giving more artists the opportunity to exhibit their artwork.

Once the finalists in the Fleurieu Art Prize have been selected, the Curator, Anna Small from the Fleurieu Arthouse, will select an additional 40+ works from the entries to be hung in the new exhibition.

A prize of $2,000 will be offered to an artwork selected by the Curator.

The exhibition will be held at the same time as the Fleurieu Biennale Art Prize - 5 June-5 July 2026 - and all artworks will be for sale.

There are three prizes awarded by judges in the Fleurieu Biennale Art Prize:

  • The Fleurieu Art Prize $20,000
  • Emerging Artists Prize $5,000
  • the People’s Choice award of $2,500

Online entries open on 16 March for artworks created after 1 January 2025.
