New family-friendly trail opens in Deep Creek The view from Deep Creek Conservation Park to Kangaroo Island

A new family friendly trail is now open as part of the Goondooloo Ridge Walk in Deep Creek Conservation Park.

The class two, 4.2km-long trail starts at the Goondooloo day visitor area, where there are picnic tables, toilets and car parking facilities.

The trail should take about two hours to complete and is pram friendly, accessible and suitable for family groups.

It takes walkers through native bushland and revegetated areas to a new lookout and picnic area which is a great place to stop for lunch and take in the views over Backstair Passage to Kangaroo Island.

Walkers in the area often see large mobs of kangaroos and other wildlife.

The trail and facilities are part of the $6 million Wild South Coast Way project.

The Wild South Coast Way is a new multi-day walk between Cape Jervis and Victor Harbor along the Heysen Trail.

The new trail is the latest aspect of the Way to be unveiled as work continues. It should be fully complete by 2023.

When in place the Wild South Coast Way will create a five day, four night hike with upgraded campgrounds and facilities.

It will also provide sections and networks of the trail that can be accessed by people of all ages and abilities.
