New school named

Goolwa Secondary College has been revealed as the name for the new 7 to 12 school opening in Goolwa at the beginning of next year.

Work is now underway to shape the school’s brand identity, including the logo, motto and uniforms.

The new high school will accommodate around 400 local students, but that number could increase with anticipated growth in the area.

The school is on the site of the old Investigator College and $10 million has been invested to re-invigorate the campus so it’s ready to welcome secondary learners in 2022.

Education Minister John Gardner says it’s an exciting time for the local community.

“The Goolwa community will benefit in a significant way from this secondary school offering world-class education to year 7 to 12 students in the area, without students having to leave their hometown,” he says.

“The refurbishment is going exceptionally well and the school will be ready to welcome students with open arms in term 1, 2022.”

Principal of Goolwa Secondary College Rebecca Moore says the naming is a big milestone.

“I’m looking forward to collaboratively building the vision for our school, which embodies world-class, innovative education for our young people.”

Goolwa Secondary College is one of four new South Australian public schools opening in 2022 as part of the state government record $1.3 billion education build.
