New schools uniforms revealed

Students attending the four new public schools opening in Aldinga, Angle Vale, Goolwa, and Whyalla next year showed off their new uniforms at Aldinga Payinthi College this week.

The uniforms showcase their individual brand and colour combinations.

Aldinga Payinthi College pays tribute to its Aboriginal name through a unique design telling a story of the role community connectedness plays in a learning journey.

Designed by Ngarrindjeri artist Jordan Lovegrove, the artwork features a large meeting place representing the college where the school community comes together with smaller meeting places representing the smaller groups within.

The large pathway leading through the artwork symbolises the learning journey travelled together.

Minister for Education John Gardner says the new uniforms are a significant milestone ahead of the schools opening their doors next year.

“These school uniforms will play an important role in creating a sense of identity, belonging, and pride among students and their community.

“The school communities have been eagerly awaiting the big reveal of the uniforms, and I’m certain they won’t be disappointed with the selection.

“These world-class schools will be such welcome additions for families in Aldinga, Angle Vale, Goolwa and Whyalla and I know many have been watching the construction progress with great interest.

“Having these uniforms ready to go is an exciting reminder we are so close to opening these new schools and seeing them come to life with their first intake of students.”

The new uniforms feature a choice of items available in the school colours ranging from rugby jumpers and jackets, polo shirts, to chinos and trousers.

The design and concept of the school uniforms were determined locally, in consultation with their communities.

Future families will be provided details on how to purchase the uniforms once enrolled.

In 2022 Aldinga Payinthi College and Riverbanks College B-12 will open to students in preschool to year 8, Goolwa Secondary College will open to students in year 7 and 8, and Whyalla Secondary College will open to students from year 7 to 12.
