New shelter for Victor dog park

Victor Harbor High School Students have started building a new shelter at the local dog park on Oval Park Road.

The Victor Harbor Dog Park is a great place for dogs to exercise and play, while owners socialise together.

To make the experience even better, the City of Victor Harbor allocated funds to build a shelter within the park.

During the planning phase, the Victor Harbor High School expressed an interest in working in partnership with the council.

The partnership will see students who are taking part in a Construction Certificate course build the shelter under the guidance of a licensed local builder.

The Dog Park Shelter will be built of timber and have Colorbond iron sheet roofing.

Its octagonal design will span both the large and small dog enclosures to accommodate users of both areas, similar to the shelter at Nangawooka Flora Reserve.

Works started on 27 May and the council expects it will be completed in August.

Dog park users will then have the opportunity to add to the shelter, in consultation with the council, making it a unique community structure.
