New surf lifesaving club opens to the public

The Normanville Foreshore redevelopment is all but complete, with the new surf lifesaving club opening to the public in time for Christmas.

Following private functions last weekend the new clubrooms and bar will open to the public at 5pm today, Friday 22 December.

It will also be open from 5pm tomorrow, Saturday 23 and Christmas Eve, Sunday 24 December, with January opening times to be advised.

Construction and fit-out of the facility was completed in November, with the new Aqua Blue café/kiosk opening on 7 December.

The club has asked visitors to remember that all club staff are volunteers and are working with new equipment and systems, so a little patience will go a long way.

The muti million dollar redevelopment was jointly funded by the local council, the Normanville Surf Life Saving Club and state government grants.

Nathan Cunningham Chief Executive Officer of the District Council of Yankalilla, has thanked the elected members of council, past and present, the community and the council’s funding partners for their support in realising the project.

He gave special recognition the council’s project partners Partek and Project Manager, John Kantilaftis.

“Their dedication and hard work have not only created an amazing new reality but have delivered a vibrant community asset.

“Looking ahead, I envision the foreshore bustling with locals and visitors enjoying the spaces we’ve crafted.“

Stage 1 of the redevelopment, which comprised the beach plaza, inclusive beach access, lawn and nature play area, opened last summer.
