New Year's Eve across the Fleurieu

Fireworks and fun are the order of the evening across the Fleurieu on New Year’s Eve as communities and visitors get ready to welcome 2025.

South Australia’s fire services are urging the public to enjoy the festivities responsibly and leave fireworks to the experts.

The South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) and the SA Country Fire Service (CFS) are reminding South Australians that the use of private fireworks is illegal.

They encourage everyone to attend one of the many licensed public fireworks displays taking place across Adelaide and regional South Australia, where the shows are run by professional pyrotechnicians.

A list of approved community fireworks events can be found on the SafeWork SA website.

Here is a rundown of the events and activities planned for this evening, Tuesday 31 December, on the Fleurieu:

Goolwa & Hindmarsh Island

Fireworks off the Hindmarsh Island bridge at midnight.

There will be road and traffic restrictions for two separate events, the Fireworks off the Bridge and The Sailing Club event.

They affect Randell Road HI and Brooking Street, Goolwa Terrace and Liverpool in Goolwa, as well as Barrage Road and Riverside Drive in Goolwa South.

For more information visit the Alexandrina Council website.

Normanville

The family favourite pageant returns this year, with temporary road closures and parking restrictions to facilitate the event.

This will affect Katherine Drive, Norman Avenue, Edwards Avenue, Andrew Avenue, Main Street, Jetty Road and the Foreshore car park. See the District Council of Yankalilla council website for details.

There will be fireworks off the Normanville jetty from 9.30-9.45 pm.

Victor Harbor

The family-friendly fun kicks off at 7.30pm at Warland Reserve, with carnival rides, food trucks and mini golf.

Kids fireworks are at 9.45pm and for night owls there is the midnight fireworks spectacular lightshow.

Temporary road closures will apply on Tuesday 31 December 2024 from 5pm, until 6am 1 January 2025:

  • The Esplanade from Flinders Parade to Wills Street.
  • Albert Place from Crozier Road to The Esplanade.
