Aldinga Library will host a session on bush wellbeing on Thursday 27 August, where you can learn about native plants, Indigenous culture, and connection to Country.
Arabana man Elijah Bravington will talk about native plants and their medicinal properties, cultural importance and continued uses.
He will also touch on the body’s natural healing abilities and the importance of art and Country in a holistic approach to health and wellbeing.
Born in New South Wales, Elijah moved to Adelaide on Kaurna Lands at two years old.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biodiversity and Conservation and a Graduate Certificate in Public Policy.
His career has included roles with the Department for Environment, Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation, and the South Australian Film Corporation.
He has also served on the Aboriginal Lands Trust Board, Arabana Parks Advisory Committee, chaired Tandanya National Aboriginal Cultural Institute and is a signatory to The Uluru Statement from the Heart.
Elijah now works with the City of Onkaparinga as Community Development Officer based at the Neporendi Aboriginal Community Centre.
The Bush Wellbeing session will be held from 3.30 to 4.30pm; register via Eventbrite.
