Kangaroo Island has joined the citizenship party, with nominations for its 2024 Citizen of the Year Awards now open.

These annual awards recognise local individuals and groups who have made an outstanding contribution to the community.

Anyone can nominate someone they know who makes the local community a better place, in one of the following categories:

• Citizen of the Year 2024.
• Community Event of the Year 2024.
• Community Project of the Year 2024.

Nominations close on Thursday 30 November.

The awards will be presented at the Australia Day ceremony on 26 January 2024 at Hope Cottage.

Nomination forms are available online, or from the council office in Kingscote.

For the Fleurieu councils, nominations for citizenship awards close on 17 November.
