Redevelopment plans for the Normanville Foreshore and Jetty Caravan Park were endorsed at the February meeting of the District Council of Yankalilla, following community feedback.

The council will update its draft Masterplan to reflect community concerns on many aspects of the redevelopment, including funding, access and environmental protection.

Construction of 23 new cabins in the Jetty Caravan Park will now only proceed if 50 per cent external funding can be sourced.

The plan will specify that no car parking will be included within the Basin area and there will be nodevelopment in the heritage dune area.

Future use of the Basin will be subject to a community workshop to discuss options for revegetation and dune restoration and history, heritage and revegetation signage.

Reconfiguration of the entry road into the Foreshore car park will alter the rear access to the combined rebuild of the Surf Life Saving Club and Kiosk to keep construction out of the Basin.

The $310,050 federal funding for Local Roads & Community Infrastructure will be allocated towards this reconfiguration.

The proposed plaza and car parking areas will be modified to ensure no loss of parking spaces or lawn area.

Mobility access to the jetty will be redesigned to ensure disability access and inclusion plan goals are achieved.

No action will be taken on moving the tennis courts until alternative options have been explored, with any potential works subject to a full business case and additional consultation.

Council will seek external funding for the proposed plaza, green space, nature play area, parking reconfiguration, beach interface and mobility access.
