Old Coach Road to close for repairs

City of Onkaparinga will implement a full road closure of a section of Old Coach Road at Maslin Beach for road pavement reconstruction works.

The road will close between Tuit Road and Oleander Road for nine days from Monday 8 April to Tuesday 16 April.

The council says access will be allowed for emergency services, public buses, residents and businesses within the work zone for the duration of the closure.

It has acknowledged community frustration with the closure, given that local and state government projects are happening at the same time in the area.

“Our Old Coach Road repairs were planned more than three years ago due to its poor condition, predating the state government’s announcement of the Main South Road duplication works.

“The fact Old Coach Road served as a detour during the state government’s works deteriorated the road further and intensified the urgency for our repairs once Main South Road re-opened.”

The council says it maintains communication with Fleurieu Connections Alliance and the Department for Infrastructure and Transport to coordinate traffic management, minimise disruptions and keep the community informed.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and thank residents for their patience and understanding while these critical construction works are underway.”

The road will be closed from 7am to 6pm, which includes the weekend.  Traffic detours will divert drivers on to Main South Road during the closure.

Construction is scheduled to be completed late June 2024. Visit the council website for more information.
