Anyone considering running for election to the City of Onkaparinga in November is invited to attend a candidate briefing session on Thursday 18 August.

The free session will be held at the council’s Noarlunga office, Ramsay Place, Noarlunga Centre from 6.30pm to 8pm.

It will include information on the election process and will cover the role of the council and of council members; allowances and expenses; and legal responsibilities.

It will also discuss eligibility and the nomination process, as well as electoral material and campaigning. 

The session is aimed at Onkaparinga locals who are keen to make a difference in the community and have a say in local decision making, by standing for election as a council member.

Onkaparinga Council region is divided into six wards: Knox, Thalassa, Pimpala, Mid Coast, Southern Vales and South Coast

The elected body is comprised of the Mayor and 12 ward councillors; two representing each of the six wards.

Nominations for council elections open on Tuesday 23 August and close at 12 noon on Tuesday 6 September.
