Art makers, curators and lovers are being spoilt for choice in the City of Onkaparinga at the moment.

Artists are encouraged to get their applications in for a number of opportunities coming up in the city, while there is also plenty going on for those who appreciate art and performance. Read on for a rundown of what's happening at some of the venues supported by the council.

The Arts Centre, Port Noarlunga

The Arts Centre, (22 Gawler Street, Port Noarlunga) is currently hosting the 'Re-Inked' Exhibition by the Bittondi Printmakers Association Inc.

You can also see an installation of more than 1000 colourful butterflies created by the ACH Group community, for the 'Kindness Changes Everything' exhibition.

There's also a display of handcrafted woollen knits by local textile creative Janette Jones.

Meanwhile, after some Covid downtime, monthly matinee performances recommenced at the Arts Centre yesterday (Wednesday 12 August). The performances kicked off with Feelin' Groovy: The Songs of Simon & Garfunkel.

The Matinees comprise two shows per day, at 11am and 2pm, with limited seating, due to social distancing requirements.

The Arts Centre is on the lookout for someone to curate the 2020 Surf Art Exhibition.

Marking the start of summer, the Surf Art Exhibition is one of the pivotal features of the Arts Centre’s calendar.

The exhibition celebrates surfing culture, the region’s history, its stunning coastal environment and lifestyle.

Duties will include promoting the exhibition to artists and visitors, liaising with potential sponsors, booking speakers for the exhibition’s opening and overseeing its installation.

Closing on Friday 21 August, Expressions of Interest should include a current CV and one page statement as to what you would bring to the role. For further information, contact Arts Centre coordinator Tim Rollason via 8326 5577 or [email protected]
