Reigning premier Wisanger got their Kangaroo Island Football League (KIFL) premiership defence off to the perfect start with a comfortable 109-point win at Kingscote on Saturday. The final scores were Wisanger 20.19 (139) to Kingscote 5.0 (30). Jackson Lockett starred up forward for the Panthers with seven goals and he was ably supported by Luke Shurven and Khyal Stead who each kicked five goals. Declan Hardy-Corby kicked two majors for Kingscote. Sam Snowball, Liam Sampson, Jordan Ackland, Lockett and Dusty Cross were named best for Wisanger. For Kingscote, Jordan Connell, Billy Goodwin and Paul Green were among their best players.

Western Districts won their second game in a row to remain top of the KIFL ladder following their comprehensive 110-point win against Parndana. The Saints have been strengthened this season with the acquisition of dual Magarey medallist Joel Cross, former Mount Compass ruckman Peter Hoban and the returning Bradley Crabb. We could be getting an early Grand Final preview on Saturday as Western Districts travel to face reigning premier Wisanger. On Saturday the Saints were far too strong for Parndana as they won 18.19 (127) to 2.5 (17). Cross starred with four goals in a best-on-ground performance, while Lloyd Coulson and Lleyton Hedges also kicked four majors for the Saints. James Davis and Jack Sexton were the goalkickers for Parndana on a tough day for the Roosters. Joining Cross in the best players for Western Districts were Damon Weatherspoon, Cam Florance, Hedges and Tye Boyle. Patrick Skeer, Zac Trethewey and Jaan Kuchel were among the best players for Parndana.
