Strathalbyn started the game well with safe hits to Kim Cutting and Ashlee Peterson and a two-bagger to Peyton Daniels which with some great base running brought home five runs with Pirates making all three outs at first in the safe glove of Tammy Mason. Strath had a great start in the field also with only a walk getting a batter on base with a K2 to pitcher/catcher combo of Tess Norris to Gab Martin and shortstop Cutting and third baser Daniels both making outs at first holding Pirates scoreless.
The second dig was better in the field for Pirates with third baser Mackenzie Hunt-Breol and second baser Taminka Wilks both making outs at first and pitcher/catcher combo of Tracey Roberts to Georgia Mason working hard for a K2 to hold Strath scoreless with three up, three down. Pirates second turn at bat was better with safe hits to Katherine Butler and Stephanie Zuzolo but they were unable to bring anyone home with smart fielding by Strath picking off lead runners with two outs at second and a catch taken by Norris.
Strath got batting again in the third with safe hits to Cutting and Martin and three baggers to Norris and Daniels which brought in a further five runs with a K2, an out at first by shortstop Ali Lomann and a catch taken by Lomann ending the innings. Pirates needed to get on the board and forced some errors to get batters on base but they again were unable to bring anyone home with right fielder Kathy Pash taking a catch and second baser Peterson making two outs at first.
The fourth innings tightened up again in the field for Pirates with Strath unable to add to their score even though they got batters on base with Lomann fielding and playing second to pick off the lead runner and Wilks and centre Butler both taking catches. This was the last chance for Pirates to get runs on the board but again they were unable to with great pitching by new pitcher Daniels making three K2’s to end the innings and the game with Strathalbyn coming out on top 10 runs to 0.
