After a Covid-induced hiatus, popular community fitness program, parkrun, has resumed at sites around the Fleurieu, South Australia and beyond.

parkrun challenges participants to complete a timed five-kilometre run, walk or jog, held in open-air environments in participating locations on Saturday mornings.

The events are free to participate in and are powered by volunteers.

Saturday 5 December was the first parkrun back after the break and participants were thrilled to see it return.

There are some changes, with all parkrun events in South Australia now required to display a unique QR code for contact tracing purposes and participants, volunteers and spectators encouraged to scan the code and sign in each week.

Participants and volunteers are asked to wash their hands, stay home if they are unwell and maintain distance where possible, including not congregating at the finish line upon completion.

To participate, complete the online registration form, print your barcode and head down to your local event. There are 408 events around the country to choose from. The parkrun locations on the Fleurieu are Victor Harbor, Strathalbyn, Goolwa, Aldinga Beach, Shiraz Trail (McLaren Vale/Willunga) and Moana.
