Participate in changes to planning

An ever increasing demand for housing has put pressure on agricultural regions and suburbs alike, with planning a contentious issue at every level of government.

The state government has launched an independent review of South Australia’s planning system, offering a chance for anyone concerned to have a say.

This could be of particular interest to those on the Fleurieu concerned about the exponential growth of housing estates as farmland disappears.

A panel of experts will review both the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 and the Planning and Design Code.

Anyone who has had an experience with South Australia's planning system or who has ideas for change is invited to contribute.

The review is intended to ensure planning decisions encourage a more liveable, competitive and sustainable long-term growth strategy for Greater Adelaide and the regions.

Three community workshops, including one in the southern suburbs of Adelaide and one online, will be held in December.

Public consultation will remain open until Friday 16 December.

Full details of the planning review and how to register for a community workshop and make a submission can be found on the Plan SA website.
