Work will start next month on Middleton’s long awaited pedestrian refuge crossings.
The two new crossings in Middleton's main street will be located near the Middleton Tavern and the IGA supermarket.
Contractors will set up on Goolwa Road from 5 February, with construction due to start on 12 February.
Alexandrina Council expects the project to be completed in early March.
Speed restrictions will be in place for the duration of construction.
Detours will be in place during night works, which are scheduled for 14 February, 15 February and 22 February, weather permitting, from 6pm to 6am.
The pedestrian refuge crossings will include kerb ramps, handrails on both sides of the road and a centre refuge.
This project is funded by SA Infrastructure and Transport with support from the council and aims to make Middleton’s main street safer for pedestrians.
