City of Onkaparinga is planning to renew the deck and handrails of the Pedler Coast-to-Vines Shared Path Bridge in McLaren Vale.
The old rail bridge is jointly owned by the council and the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, with DIT responsible for the substructure and abutments.
Renewal of the council-owned deck and handrails will require closure of the section of the Coast to Vines path, which uses the bridge over Pedler Creek, for around two months.
This means putting in place a significant detour during the works.
The council has identified detour routes for path users and is asking for community input on their suitability and possible alternatives.
It is proposing to make the bridge repairs in April-May 2025.
Check out the map showing the possible detours and give feedback on them and the timing of the construction on the council’s Your Say webpage.
Consultation closes Sunday 9 June.
