Pick your pageant and sing your heart out

Pageants, parties, festivals and fireworks are on the agenda all over the Fleurieu in the lead-up to Christmas.

It’s pageants galore this weekend, starting with Christmas Where the Angas Flows, in Strathalbyn on Friday 13 December. The parade winds through the Strathalbyn township from 6pm, finishing at Soldiers Memorial Gardens.

On Saturday 14 December it’s Victor Harbor’s time to shine with the Christmas Pageant starting at 5.30pm from Bridge Terrace and proceeding along Ocean Street towards Warland Reserve.

Community Carols will be held in Grosvenor Gardens after the pageant, starting around 7pm, with a visit from Santa and pop-up food stalls.

The Goolwa Christmas festival is on Sunday 15 December from 6pm, with a pageant, children’s entertainment, Santa and fireworks.

The pageant travels along Cadell Street and finishes at Goolwa Oval where festivities await.

Sunday will also see community carols at Aldinga Bay, with a variety of free carnival events from 5pm-7pm. Carols begin at 7.30pm with local singers, a community choir and guest artists. There will also be food and drink stalls – all at Symonds Reserve, Stewart Avenue, Aldinga Beach.

Another community carols event will be held at the Yankalilla Agricultural Hall, on Main South Road, from 4.30pm, followed by food and fun for all.

On Tuesday 17 December join in the Carols in the Park sing-along with the Port Elliot community from 5pm. The evening will include family activities and a visit from Santa at Port Elliot Town Square, The Strand.

On Kangaroo Island, the Drakes Advance Kingscote 2019 Christmas Pageant will be held on Friday 20 December. The parade starts at 6pm, and there will be plenty of fun before hand including a treasure hunt, face painting and chalk art street drawing - with prizes for the best chalk art drawing.

The Second Valley carols night will also be held on Friday 20 December, at the Soldiers Memorial Hall from 7.30pm.

On Christmas Eve, Tuesday 24 December, the annual Goolwa Community Children and Families party will celebrate the season at Arthur Neighbour Reserve in Goolwa from 5pm. Take rugs, chairs and a picnic to enjoy a free barbecue, live music, giveaways and children’s amusements.

Or if you're on the Fleurieu Coast there is the Lion's Christmas Party, in the car park of Mitre 10, at Mary Street Normanville from 6.30pm for rides, a sausage sizzle, an animal petting farm and, of course, Santa.
