Don’t let parking problems and road closures spoil race day when stage 4 of the Tour Down Under rolls through the Alexandrina Council district on Friday 19 January. 

The race starts at Murray Bridge at 11.10am before the peloton rides through Langhorne Creek around 1pm, then Strathalbyn, Ashbourne, Currency Creek, Goolwa, and Middleton, before finishing on The Strand at Port Elliot at 3pm. 

SA Police and race officials will implement a rolling road closure along the route approximately 15 minutes ahead of the peloton and until five minutes afterwards. 

The Strand in Port Elliot will be closed to all traffic from 6am to 6.30pm for the stage finish. 

There will be temporary speed restrictions, traffic controls and parking restrictions in various places, especially in Port Elliot.

Alexandrina Council recommends that residents and visitors explore alternative transport options to enjoy the activities at the finish line.

Cockle Train Tour Down Under Train Service 

Take a train ride to Port Elliot with SteamRanger Heritage Railway’s special Cockle Train Tour Down Under train schedule. Departing for the finish line from Victor Harbor and Goolwa, check the schedule and book tickets in advance through the website. 

Cycle the Encounter Bikeway 

For fitness enthusiasts, nature lovers, or for some family fun, ride the Encounter Bikeway from Victor Harbor or Middleton/Goolwa to Port Elliot. Extra bike racks will be available in Continental Park, with free bicycle servicing provided by Fleurieu Bike. 

Suggested Parking at Tottenham Court Road 

Tottenham Court Road in Port Elliot is one parking solution for motorists. Located near the oval, it is just a short walk from all the TDU action.

Port Elliot Rotary Market to The Strand 

The Port Elliot Rotary Market will hold an extra market day in Lakala Reserve on Friday 19 January, 11am to 5pm.
