Willunga could get a new childcare centre with an application to build an 88-place facility at 4-6 St Andrews Terrace currently being considered by the City of Onkaparinga.
The plans would see the construction of a single storey building with five internal childcare rooms, an outside play area, a kitchen, laundry, two bathrooms and office and storage areas.
It would also have a 22-space carpark.
Documents submitted to council by Lofty Property Group state that the centre would operate from 6.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday and would employ 16 staff.
It would provide care for children aged from 6 weeks to 5 years.
The site currently contains a warehouse and disused mechanics workshop which would be demolished.
The application says that two regulated trees and two significant trees on the site would need to be removed.
Local residents or other interested parties have until October 26 to make a representation in support, raise concerns or oppose the development via the plan.sa.gov.au website.
