The Australian Plants Society SA Fleurieu Group will hold a memorial plant sale at Nangawooka Flora Reserve tomorrow, Sunday 23 May.
The plants for sale were propagated by the society’s late member Brian Freeman.
Each year he would grow by seed, cutting or grafting between 1,000 to 2,000 plants to be planted on his property, Ninbella, at Lower Inman Valley.
A lack of autumn rain meant a delay in planting this year.
Brian’s expertise and his passion for native plants was widely recognised, featuring on ABC TV’s Gardening Australia.
He died suddenly and very unexpectedly on Easter Monday and Sunday’s event will be an Estate sale of his plants.
There are woodlot and screening trees, small, medium and large shrubs and some grafted Eremophilas and Grevilleas.
Prices range from $2 through to $15, with all proceeds going back into Brian’s Estate.
The sale will run from 10.00am until 3.00pm at Nangawooka, a 5acre reserve just north of Victor Harbor on the corner of Waterport Road and the Adelaide - Victor Harbor Road.
