The Willunga Environment Centre will host a literally ground breaking planting project and has invited the community to join in.
It will plant one of the first Miyawaki Forests in South Australia on Saturday 23 March.
This unique method, developed by Dr Akira Miyawaki, helps create dense, biodiverse forests that grow more rapidly than those planted using traditional methods.
The Centre says the project is about more than just planting trees; it's about creating a thriving ecosystem right in our backyard, contributing to local biodiversity and combating climate change.
Nature enthusiasts and anyone passionate about the environment will be welcome to help out, whether experienced planters or first-timers.
The planting session will run from 10am to 1pm and will include a brief introduction to the Miyawaki method and light refreshments.
Planters should wear sturdy shoes and long pants; and take along hats, sunscreen and drinking water.
Those who have them should also take camping chairs and small shovels or trowels.
Anyone keen to help out with planting a forest can sign up via Humanitix to receive details of the location.
